What to Sell to Make Money on eBay

September 27th, 2009

If you have decided that eBay is a good place for you to start making money, you should  follow these steps to starting your business correctly.

Market Research
To figure out what people that visit eBay want to buy you need  to visit eBay yourself. See what other sellers have to sell and see what customers are buying. Do a completed listing search on eBay and find out what the best selling products in any market are. Prices in green means that the products sold and prices in red mean that the products didn't sell. Look for markets where you see more green than red.

Choosing products
As I mentioned above, when you do your market research make sure that you look at the ones that have more green than red. Choose the products that sell more often. You can also do a search on eBay Pulse to find out what products sold in different categories that you could sell to make money on eBay.

After you found products that you think may be good sellers, make sure you go and search for a good and genuine supplier of wholesale and drop shipping products. You can do a search on Google.com to find suppliers, but be aware of the scammers. A better option is to become a member of Worldwide Brands. They have a directory of over 8000 verified wholesale suppliers and drop shippers who represent over 8 million products. Every single wholesale supplier has been researched and called. The Worldwide Brands research team asks a series of questions to verify their legitimacy. Once the wholesale supplier has been approved they are added to the database at no cost to the wholesale supplier, and Worldwide Brands does not charge you anything more after you have paid the one-time fee for a life-time membership.

Make sure that you pick the correct supplier, because your profit margin will be the difference between the purchase price and the sale price of the item. You want to have a decent profit margin, so you can make a living on eBay.

eBay and PayPal Fees
Make sure that you check your eBay fees before you purchase an item from a wholesaler. The price that you are going to pay to buy the products should be lower than the price you are going to sell the product for so you can make a profit and pay your eBay and PayPal fees. On eBay you pay a fee when you list an item and a fee when the item has been sold. On PayPal, you pay a transaction fee and a fee when you want to withdraw money to your credit card (around $2) and if you want to withdraw money to your bank account it's free.

So make sure that you take into consideration all these factors before you make any decisions when you want to buy wholesale products to sell at a profit.
